Weekend Update ~ The Return of College Football

This weekend was one of the best. It included all of my favorite things: best friends, traveling, and Clemson football.

I've been looking forward to the start of college football since the last bowl game. Clemson season's opener was in Atlanta against Auburn. We haven't won a game in Atlanta since 2003 (that's 6 losses), so my hopes were not very high. We stayed with Jacob and Emmie, in their awesome apartment in Midtown.

All of our friends were in town and we had a great tailgate spot. There's nothing better than best friends and a Clemson win.

We followed a great Saturday with a great Sunday and brunch at The Nook. If you're ever in Atlanta, you must try this place out. They have fishbowl liquor drinks and loaded tater tots. It's amazing. The patio is always full of people and you can stay for hours watching football. It's probably my favorite atmosphere on a patio. I wish Greenville had a place like this.

Can't wait to do it all again next weekend with our first home game in Clemson!

All is right with the world now that college football has returned!

Weekend Update ~ The Lake & Birthdays!

While I really love all the traveling I've been doing lately, turns out, a relaxing weekend was just what I needed to recharge.

Saturday was the day for birthdays. We had 4 friends to celebrate, which made logistics a little difficult. Trent had asked us to come to his lake house to surprise Holly for her birthday, but it was also Ryan's roommate's birthday and two college friends' party (twins)! We decided to split up, that way everyone could attend at least one of the parties!

I hadn't seen my parents since my birthday, so on Friday night, Ryan and I met them at Nami, our favorite sushi restaurant on the lake in Anderson. Lauren and Tyler picked me up after dinner and we headed to Trent's house, just across the Georgia border, and Ryan went back to Greenville.

Trent had taken Holly out on the boat so we could surprise her when she got back. I think she knew something was fishy, but I think she was excited to have us all there! We enjoyed a low-key night complete with Terrapin beer and a late-night cruise in the pontoon boat.

Love these girls
She's so small I have to pick her up for pictures!
Bundled up for the boat ride!
Two more of Holly's friends surprised her on Saturday morning, and our group was complete! We recovered over many mugs of coffee, mini pancake muffins I made (recipe coming soon), and egg and cheese sandwiches. It rained in the morning, but the sun came out for the rest of the day for us to enjoy the lake.

Sunday will be spent doing nothing, minus my 5 mile long run.

Hope everyone is ready to tackle another week!

(Side note: 2 more weeks until college football. I'm so excited I can hardly stand it.)

Weekend Update ~ Braves Opening Day & Clemson Spring Game

Happy Sunday! I've returned back to Greenville after traveling again this weekend and having lots of fun! Here's a quick recap:

On Friday, a big crew of us went down to Atlanta for the Braves Home Opener. This game was extra special because The Civil Wars performed a pre-game concert! Lauren and I saw them in Charlotte back in December, and were excited to see them again! They played a shorter set with a few of their new songs from The Hunger Games soundtrack. While I must admit that their music isn't really appropriate for a baseball game venue, I still enjoyed hearing some of my favorites again live (plus, we were so close to the stage)!

Now onto the game! The Braves won 10-8 against the Brewers!

Our wonderful friends Jacob & Emmie, who live in Midtown, let us crash for the night. They have an awesome view of the city! We were in Atlanta back in March for a weekend reunion and I was excited to see them again!

We walked a few blocks to Einstein's for brunch. The food was to die for. Tom and I split the Fried Green Tomatoes and I had Shrimp & Grits as my meal. Yum. We could've spent all day drinking on the fabulous porch.

After brunch, Tom, Ryan, and I were on the road again to Clemson. We spent the afternoon tailgating. Honestly, we never actually went into the stadium for the spring game. It was just so nice to prop our feet up at the tailgate; I really didn't want to move. And since I have no pictures to show for it beside this one of the stadium, I'll give you some pictures from the Clemson vs. Furman baseball game at the Drive Stadium we went to on Tuesday night.

And now I'm off to enjoy Sunday Funday by the pool on this gorgeous day! Hope everyone had a great weekend!
